Whatβs for Dinner ?
Rosie Ghale-Soltani is a mixed media artist currently looking at how hair holds a variety of contradictions as a material. The focus of her installation and sculptural work revolves around evoking an intense visceral reaction from an audience, this is done to question why we react to material and experiences in the way we do . Immersion is an integral element to achieving such reactions, this is done by pushing the boundaries of traditional presentation. The adaptation of the dining room space to a digital platform is an example of this. Hair in the context of these spaces hold layers of connotations from the formality of the space itself to the attachment of hair and food involved in the dining experience.
Exploring the space with these references begs the question, What if hair could be just a material? How would that material be normalised in your day to day ?
